S.S.S.

“I have been asked what I mean by ‘word of honor.’ I will tell you. Place me behind prison walls–walls of stone ever so high, ever so thick, reaching ever so far into the ground–there is a possibility that in some way or another I may escape; but stand me on the floor and draw a chalk line around me and have me give my word of honor never to cross it. Can I get out of the circle? No. Never! I’d die first!” - Karl G. Maeser

I agree with this statement, you should always keep your word. But Mr. Said that if you give your word, not word of honor. I think these 2 are 2 different things. If you give your word of honor it has a much higher weight than your word. It is still important to give your word and do it, but it doesn't have that much weight on your shoulders than saying you're going to give your word of honor. It is a very noble act and sometimes it is tough to follow through, but it is very important for people to trust you and for yourself. In conclusion it is very important that people keep their word of honor, so that you can trust in them and they can trust in you. If you say you're going to do something in your word of honor, than there is no backing out. That is why you should also only keep things you know for a fact you can keep and you know that you will keep.
